May 25, 2013 Topic of the Day:
Something someone told you about yourself that you'll never forget (good or bad)
This is an easy one. As soon as I read what the topic of the day was, I knew what I was going to write about.
When I was in 6th grade I remember running out to my friend's mom's car by myself before school for some reason. I remember the exact look and smell of that car. She was parked directly in front of the main hallway at school. She asked me to get in and sit down for a second. She proceeded to thank me for being such a good friend to her daughter and for staying true to who I was. For not giving into peer pressure.
I never forgot those words. No matter how un-cool it was, I never gave into peer pressure. It meant that I was pretty square when I was a teenager, but you know what? I don't regret it. While everyone else was out partying on Friday and Saturday nights, I was hanging out with my friends who accepted that Diet Pepsi was my drink of choice.
To this day, I refuse to give into peer pressure. I'm so proud of that and I can thank my friend's mom for reminding my 11 year old self to stay true to who I am.
