Rainbow Baby Shower Decorations

Today I am thrilled to share pictures of a baby shower I hosted a couple of weeks ago. My sister-in-law is having a baby next month, so of course I jumped at the opportunity to throw her a shower. I love decorating for parties, but don't have many opportunities to do so, so I tend to take advantage of her life achievements to fulfill my dreams.

Welcome to my home! I saw this umbrella idea on Pinterest and just had to use it. I bought the clear bubble umbrellas from Bed, Bath & Beyond and hung them using eye hooks and clear fishing line. Unfortunately, it was windy and rainy all day so this didn't last very long. Take my advice and fill your balloons with something to weigh them down before blowing them up. I would recommend marbles or pennies. For some reason my husband wouldn't listen to my advice, hence, the balloons that were floating around my street all day. #listentoyourwife #MeasureOnceCutTwice

This candy bar was almost the death of me. I had it set up in our house for close two weeks before the party. Let's just say that I had to replace one or more of those jars multiple times. I'll go into the detail in a later post. This was the first legit candy bar I've made so I had fun figuring out the best way to create it.

I added some flare to our shelves with a simple rainbow banner cut using my Silhouette. John and I made those shelves by the way. We're ridiculously proud, but for some reason I can't get myself to finish a blog post about them. Someday soon I hope. {See those pillows? They're actually napkins. Click here to see the tutorial.}

If you're wondering... yes, I did sit there one night and separate two very large bags of Skittles by color. I'm kind of OCD like that, so I found this exercise to be very soothing for me. Then I may have had to do it a second time after one too many got eaten. #sorrynotsorry
{Straws and milk jugs are from Pick Your Plum.}

I'm not going to take any credit for these cookies. They are 100% store bought and by far my favorite. They are fluffy sugar cookies from Safeway that just melt in your mouth. I would easily eat an entire box while grocery shopping if I could. And maybe one time I accidentally did.

My SIL had tons of presents to open. All for a little baby girl. I die. Luckily I had set up a card table and then stacked some wooden crates around it to make multiple levels. It still took over the room though!

I'm going to take 100% credit for this creation. Not that it is very impressive because it is a really obvious concept, especially if you've ever once laid eyes on Pinterest. However, I don't do vegitables. I wondered around in the produce aisle for easily 20 minutes before coming up with this spread. I'm especially proud of the purple cauliflower find.
Who knew?!

Here is my dear SIL, all pregnant and glowing. I broke out my prized possession for her to sit in. You can't really tell from this picture, but that is a fuchsia velvet chair. Yeah. I know, right?

Finally, here we are together at the end of the party. I can't believe I'm going to be an aunt! That's so hard for me to fathom, but so exciting!
