Happy Valentine's Day!!
I know this is a little late, but today I'm talking about how to make a super easy and cheap heart garland out of felt.
No sewing skills required!
Materials:
Thick card stock, Sharpie, fabric scissors, sheets of felt (your choice of color and quantity), embroidery floss, needle
Step 1:
Have a heart cutting contest with a man. It will make you feel really good about yourself. Mine is on the right (clearly). I obtained that perfect heart by folding the paper in half and only cutting out half of a heart along the fold. I used paint chip samples because they are more durable when tracing. John's attempt on the left is pretty cute though. He really did try his best!
Step 2:
Use a Sharpie to trace the heart shape onto a piece of felt. Do it as many times as you want. I did approximately 17 hearts on 4 different colors of felt. {Tip: Use a pair of good scissors meant for cutting fabrics like felt. This will make your life so much easier.}
Step 3:
Lay out your hearts in the color pattern that you want and admire your fine work.
Step 4:
Use a piece of embroidery floss and a needle to run a couple of stitches into each heart. It doesn't have to be perfect by any means. Honestly, mine looks like a hot mess, but I call that character! Make sure your embroidery floss is cut to however long you want your garland to be.
Step 5:
Hang it up. Take pictures in front of it. Be proud.
You could use this for a cute photo booth background, hang it up for Valentine's Day wall or mantle decor, or you can lay it down on a table to add an extra detail.
I hope you have a lovely Valentine's Day. I may or may not have talked my husband into giving me my present early (for the 9th year in a row). All I have to say is that he knows me better than I know myself. I'll share details in another post soon.
