As I discussed earlier this week, we celebrated Friendsgiving this year, but with a twist. Since Thanksgiving and Hanukkah fall on the same day, my friends and I went all out and served a crossover Thanksgivukkah meal.
Here's the spread:
ONE: Pumpkin pie with Star of David frosting.
FOUR: Potato latkes (Trader Joe's)
[Let's pretend we made these instead.]
SIX: Pecan Pie Rugelach
SEVEN: Pan Gravy Recipe
[we added flour + salt & pepper]
EIGHT: Ocean Spray canned cranberries (classy.)
I'll tell you that I am not Jewish and knew basically nothing about the religion or culture before Thanksgivukkah. I still don't know much, but at least I can say I've eaten a latke. I hate to admit this, but I actually liked trying all of these new recipes. I'm not one to try new things (... like ever), but I really did enjoy trying new foods from different cultures that night.
There is still time to plan a Thanksgivukkah meal, so make sure to check out the links above for some great ideas.
The Cupcake Project hosted a Thanksgivukkah Blogger Potluck, which has 18 great crossover meal ideas.
If you haven't already seen it, make sure to check out the table decorations that we put together for this marvelous meal.
