I was asked to help decorate for a sunflower themed wedding reception a couple of weeks ago. The bride wanted a sign to tie in with their guest favors. Conveniently, my husband, who is really good with words, came up with the "Sow the Seeds of Love" line to represent their packets of sunflower seeds they were giving away.
I had a lot of fun making this project. I didn't really know where to start at first, so I painted a small canvas sky blue. I just kept adding features from there. I started with adhesive lace at the top, then sewed on the little banner that I cut using my Silhouette.
I had just picked up some sunflowers the day before, so I glued those on and put a couple of stitches in the canvas for the stems. Finally, I painted popsicle sticks brown and cut them in half to make the fence.
Randomly decorating canvases like this may be one of my new favorite crafts. It is so fun to piece together designs like this. I love this because at first I was just going to print out a sign and put it in a frame. This is so much more fun, don't you think?
