Reed's Nursery Tour

I am so excited to finally share pictures of baby Reed's nursery! We've been working on this room for a very long time. Like... before we even knew Reed was a real thing. As soon as my pregnancy test showed positive, John was down at Sherwin Williams picking out paint colors. We knew we wanted a neutral colored room whether it was a boy or a girl, so he was able to get to work quickly. Obviously we were very excited about the news!

We've always wanted to put wainscoting up in our house, so we figured this would be the perfect room to do it in. I'm really happy with how it turned out! It adds a subtle touch to the room that makes it feel cozy, yet elegant.

The frame around Reed's name was from an old gold mirror that we got from John's great grandpa. We took the mirror out and painted the frame white, then used a nail gun to secure it to the wall. His name is made from basic wooden letters painted white from the craft store.

As you'll see throughout this post, I'm obsessed with personalizing everything. I'm certain that Reed will know how to spell his name soon because it's written all over our house! Although Reed is named after a superhero, we wanted to incorporate more than just comics into his room. I let John take the lead on the theme since he is basically a little kid himself! We went with a space-robot-superhero theme. These sheets literally couldn't have been more perfect for the room. We are so thrilled with the final product and recommend Hearts + Arrows Etsy shop to everyone!

One of the biggest decisions when designing a nursery is choosing the perfect rocking chair. Of course, I started at PotteryBarn.com, but those suckers are expensive! One of my requirements was that it had to be grey and I really really wanted it to be wing-backed. I found the perfect chair on Amazon for a quarter of the price that I would pay at Pottery Barn. Score!! Lamp, curtains and pillow are all from Target. The bench was originally off-white and didn't have a pad on it, so we spray painted it bright white and wrapped a sheet of upholstery foam in fabric.

Since my husband is quite an artist and I am rather crafty myself, we decided to create custom artwork for our baby's room. I'll share details in a separate post for how we made these. I love the way they turned out!!

Here's my sweet baby boy wrapped up in his Oh Joy! muslin blanket. He was only 4 days old in this picture. 3 weeks and 2 pounds later, I have a big chunker boy laying on my chest as I write this post. I can't wait until he's big enough to appreciate and play in his big boy room, but until then, I will soak up these precious newborn moments because they will be gone before I know it!
